Ghulam Murtaza, Zulfiqar Ali, Raja Khalid, Ghulam Ali Ranjha and other leaders told newsmen that workers of Dewan Sugar Mills have not been paid salaries since February last making their families to starve.
They said the management has also sent a large number of employees on forced three-month leave without pay. Moreover, the seasonal staff has not been paid bonus and the overtime despite the fact that they worked for two and half a month during current crushing season. The protesting workers demanded of the government to intervene and resolve the issue or otherwise they would be compelled to commit self-immolation in front of Thatta press club.
