Meeting for « Creation of an European NGO Sugar Consortium » - Thursday 26 January 2006

In front of the importance of sugar in the South economies, the European civil society has to go on its advocacy by the European instances, especially to ensure the developing countries’ access to European market at remunerating prices. The development help and the conversion of the sugar industry of the LDC and ACP have to be a preoccupation of the European civil society and of the Commission. The consortium has to participate in the constitution of social dialogues with the sugar using companies in Europe. At last, it has to contribute to help the sugar companies’ structure for the market but also for the community and its environment.
