Sept. 17 (Bloomberg) — More than 200 seasonal workers from the Marromeu sugar plant in the central Sofala province of Mozambique have been on strike since Wednesday over a wage dispute, the daily independent O Pais said in a report today.
The Maputo-based paper said the workers were against management’s decision to lift wages by an average of about $8.
Four workers were injured, two of them seriously, after police fired shots, the newspaper said.
