Main Axis :

Discussion between stakeholders : companies, trade unions and civil society- about sugar problematic North/South

European investments in the south accompaniment, namely in Brazil.

Main starting meeting :

Seminar at the UNCTAD XI- June 14th 2004.
Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo:

« Sugar trade globalization vs social and environmental rights globalization »

General Objective:

To develop a series of social dialogues between stakeholders in the south. Country aimed: Brazil.

Specific Objectives:

- 2003 European nets learning validation.
- Constitution of nets in the southern countries. Main goal: Brazil.

Directly or indirectly realized actions :

- May 19th-21st 2004: International Union Fédération - Francfort - Meeting about sugar.
 Participation as the only NGO to the seminar of 42 trade unions from 31 countries.
- May 30th, 2004 : UNICA - Sao Paulo(Brésil) – Workshops on CSR Participation to 2 workshops organized by the São Paulo Sugar Cane Agroindustry Union – on the Corporate Social Responsibility problematic- October 10th, 2004 : European Committee of Sugar Producers- Brussels- January 22nd, 2005 : World Social Forum - Porto Alegre (Brazil) Organization in partnership with the Brazilian company José Pessoa of the workshop «Globalized market : which are the new types of management and solidarity North/South »- June 24th, 2005 International Energy Agency– Paris – conference on the Ethanol on the invitation of the Brazilian government.

Results:

Ethical Sugar is considered as an expert on social questions by the professional organizations.
