WORKERS of Kinyara Sugar Works (KSWL) will not be affected by the take-over by Rai Holdings, privatisation state minister Lukia Chekamondo has said.
Appearing before Parliament's finance committee recently, Chekamondosaid the Privatisation Unit's (PU) officials had met the workers and assured them of job security.
"The transfer of the corporation will not affect them in any way. We have met their representatives and explained everything. They were misinformed," she said.
Chekamondo was flanked by the PU's director, Michael Opagi and team leader, Godfrey Ssebugwawo. The committee was chaired by William Nsubuga.
Chekamondo said the PU could not submit the agreement to the committee since negotiations were still going on.
